Puerto Rico International Film Fest /プエルトリコ国際映画祭入選

While Japan is still in confusion, my film got selected.

こんな時にですが、入選しました。

I wanted to write about Macon Film Festival, but I am not settled to talk about my work yet....

先日アメリカで行われたメイコン映画祭の報告をしたかったのですが、

まだまだ映画について熱く語れる元気が無く…

I'd love to visit Puerto Rico though!

ただプエルトリコには行ってみたいです。

Where's the Truth? / 真実はどこに？

I couldn't get off from the train because the platform was too crowded. "Let me out," I said, but no one would. "LET ME OUT!" I shouted, then some man helped me out from the train.

The rush hour in Tokyo is pretty bad, but this was unusual. I've never seen the platform being so crowded and never got help getting out of the train. Seriously, it cracked me up.

電車の真ん中で「降ります！」と叫んでも無視されてしまい、隣の人に手伝ってもらい出口へ。
しかし…ホームが混んでて出られない。
東京のラッシュアワーは確かに酷いですが、ここまで酷いのは見たことがなく。
ホームが混んでて電車から出られないって…と思わず失笑してしまった。

Things were unusual.
One of the major bank stopped.
Train weren't running as usual. The blackouts, the aftershock...and the TV program.

But things kinda got back to normal as soon as the normal TV program started.
People are out shopping, laughing, eating and so forth.
Well... I guess TV rules our lives,
and we are safe as long as TV says so.

周りにある何もかもがいつもと違う。私が使っている、みずほ銀行は機能停止。電車は非常運行。
停電、余震、そしてテレビ番組。

ああ、どうなっちゃうんだろう？
と思いながら迎えた昨日、テレビ番組はいつもの番組編成へ。
そして外へ出ると、みなさん普段通りにショッピングしたり、笑ったり。
テレビ番組がいつもの編成になると、生活もいつも通りになるのか…。

But as Gil Scott-Heron said... "Revolution Will Not Be Televised,"
I figured out that the possibility and the danger of Fukushima Nuke Plant wasn't properly informed here. One of the plant that exploded used plutonium thermal reactor, that means, if TEPCO (the company that owns the Fukushima Nuke Plant) screws, then, the damage will easily be greater than that of Chernobyl.

I found out that it was informed right after the earthquake in foreign countries, but I didn't know. All I knew was the radiation level is not too dangerous in Tokyo "for now," and it'll "probably" stay safe according to the Japanese government.

福島原発について正確な情報が国民にしっかり伝えられていないことを知った。
第一原発三号機がプルサーマル発電であること。東京電力の冷却作業が不発に終われば

I couldn't stand this.
I didn't want to think about...
the possibility of Japanese government cheating on us... the possibility of the worst radiation accident to happen in Japan. the possibility of....

マジですか…。
考えたくない。
政府がこんな時に国民を裏切っている可能性。世界最大限の原発事故が起きる可能性。
可能性の可能性…

Well... I've never seen a person with a gas mask in the middle here, but yes there are a lot of people with masks because the HAY FEVER, not because of the radiation panic.

真ん中にある写真みたいなマスクしている人みたことないんですけど。確かに、いま皆マスクしてるけど花粉症だからだっつーの。

And another one. This is not true. He did weep, but not because the radiation level here is fatal but because he couldn't say we are completely safe. Well, you can translated that as "fatal" I guess.

こっちなんかはもっと酷い。
東電の幹部が放射能は既に人を殺すレベルだと。
確かに彼は記者会見で泣いたが「福島原発が完全に大丈夫だ」と言えないからだろう。
まあ深読みすれば人を殺すレベルだと認めたとも言えなくはないかもしれないが。

However, I have been checking the press conference by TEPCO and the government, and they finally did talk about the plutonium thermal reactor, but they aren't talking about the danger of it.

And what is worse, the reporter that is allowed to get into the press conference by the government don't have much knowledge about the plutonium thermal reactor, it makes me mad.

プルサーマル発電については今日の記者会見で話されたみたいだが、その危険性については言及されなかった。しかも質問する記者側もプルサーマル発電がなんだか分かってないのか、ちゃんと突っ込んで質問をしない。腹立たしい。

Are we safe?
I don't know.
I hope we are.
Well probably we are because TV says so.

私たちは本当に大丈夫なんだろうか？
でもテレビが大丈夫だって言ってるなら大丈夫か。

Freaking Out/ ビビりまくり

Yeah, I imagine Japan's earthquake is a huge news all over the world, and of course it is here. I feel worried and am praying for safety & peace for people in the north, BUT! What is it here that is going on in Tokyo?

東北地太平洋沖地震は世界中を震撼させているようですね。私自身、東北の皆さんの無事と平安を望み、心を痛めています。しかし東京のこの騒ぎはなんなんだろう？

You can check whatever felt about whatever going on.
Yes, we did have quite a big earthquake here.
It scared me out.

Aftershock never seem to cease.
But nobody is dying or starving to death or anything.

However whatsoever, the news about radiation
spreading out from the nuke plant in Fukushima is freaking people out!

確かに東京での地震も馬鹿でかかった。
震度５強だったそうでメチャクチャ怖かったですし余震もなかなか収まらない。
でも幸い、東京では飢え死にや凍え死にそうになっている人がいるというニュースは聞きません。（東北は深刻です…何か助けになりたいと思うばかりで何も出来ず…）

そんな中、福島原発の放射線漏れのニュースが皆さんをとても不安にさせています。

The radiation count in Tokyo was told that it is around 28 milli Sievert, which is 1/100,000,000 of what was counted in Hiroshima atomic bomb, and which is 0.4% of an fatal amount.

Let me tell you what.

My dad was radiated in Nagasaki atomic bomb. I don't know how many freaking Sievert he got, but I'm sure it was more than what we have here. But he is alive, and his health is not too bad. I'm his daughter, and I'm in a pretty good shape.

However...
Foreigners are leaving the country
People are packing up in trains to go home... Basically, freaking out.

しかしですね、本日観測された放射能数値は28ミリシーベルト。
つまり広島原爆の百万分の一、死に至る量の0.4%。

ここで何が言いたいかと申しますと。

父は長崎の原爆の被曝胎児として国から認定されており、少なくともこの大騒ぎされている28シーベルトよりは多く被曝したと思います。
でも父親は人並みに生きており、それなりに健康体です。（いつ放射能とやらの脅威が自らに発するかはわかりませんが）そして、その娘は猫と暮らしたり、美味しいものを食べたり、年をとって太って来てしまった以外は、それはそれは普通としか言いようの無い健康体。（放射能の威力は二世の方が大きいと言いますが、兄も普通の健康体です）

そんななか。外国人達は日本を脱出。人々は電車に駆け込み、ダースベーダの仕様のマスクを着用する勢い。つまり、ビビりまくっているんです。

I don't know, there is a possibility to be as dangerous as it was in Chernobyl, and I'm not saying we are completely "safe."

It is said that if you get 0.5 Sievert at once, the amount of lymphocyte decreases. And we get radiation from the nature everyday? (1〜2 milli Sievert per yr) You get 0.05 milli Sievert every X-ray examination.

It's up to you to think whether this amount is bad for you or not. But freaking out at loud doesn't help us to calm down.

Well, I am not leaving Tokyo. At least for now, I have no reason to.

What we ought to do is to "help each other," not running away,

or not expecting government to help us out. WE can help each other, the government, people, and the mother earth, hopefully.

もちろん、チェルノブイリ原発事故並みの危険は潜んでいるのかもしれないですし、私たちが安全である保障は何もありません。

もし500ミリシーベルトを一度に受けた場合、リンパ球が減少し始めるらしいです。そして、私たちは普通にしていても年間1〜2ミリシーベルト、レントゲンで0.05ミリシーベルトの放射能を浴びているようです。現在観測されている数値が悪いのかどうか、その基準は各々が考え、各々の立場によって違うと思いますが、ビビって大騒ぎして不安を煽るのは少なくとも助けにはならないと思う。

少なくとも私は東京から出るつもりはありません。逃げるという思考よりも「まず政府とも国民全員とも協力体制でいたい」という意識を持っていたい。私たちは和を尊ぶ人種な訳だから、政府ともお隣さんとも地球とも仲良く出来ると思うんですけどね。

films that i love/ 好きな映画

People frequently ask me what my favorite movie is.

Really, this is a tough question, since "favorite" doesn't describe my feelings

toward each movies that i've seen.

一番好きな映画は何ですか、とよく聞かれます。

「好きな映画」という表現がピッタリくる映画は、実はあまりないのです。

というのも、みた映画それぞれに別々の想いがあるからです。

But i usually answer "8 1/2," Federico Fellini, with a hope that everyone would wonder about the definition of "movies."

Truelly, a revolution took place in my brain or my whole body by watching the film. How can Fellini show the beauty of life and the "dream" of making film at the same time in such a way? Well, I trully recommend that you watch it in theaters though.. if you can.

ただ、あまりに何度もこの質問を受けるので、その時は「8 1/2」と答えます。というのも、この映画を皆に見てもらって「映画とは何か」を勝手ながら考えてみて楽しんでもらいたかったりするからです。これをみた私の脳内はまさに革命が起きました。

いや、革命を体感した、と言っても良いかもしれません。

生きる上での美しさ、映画作りに置ける「夢」をフェリーニはもう、たまらない位美しく、感動的に作っていると思います。映画館で見て欲しいですが。可能であれば。
